Frank Noga, 95
Frank E. Noga, 95, widower of Claire Noga, died Saturday at St. Joseph Hospital. He was born July 9, 1912 in Chicago, Ill., a son of the late John and Antonette Noga. He was a U.S. Army veteran and a retired mechanical designer for Stanford University. He was a member of Clay City Baptist Church.
He is survived by his children, Toni Moore of Lexington and Phil Free of South Dakota; a sister, Erma Butcher of Akron, Ohio; grandchildren, Sean (Charlotte) Anderson of South Carolina, and Dennis Anderson of California; and great-grandchildren, Matthew, Emily, Nicholas and Terrance Anderson.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Monday at Wells Funeral Home, Stanton by Rev. Grider Denny with burial at Turpin Cemetery, Estill County.

Jean Watkins, 72
Jean Oakley Watkins, 72, Camargo Rd., Mt. Sterling, wife of William Robert Watkins, Mt. Sterling, died Feb. 17, 2008 at her home. She was born Nov. 14, 1935 in Montgomery County, a daughter of Jack Oakley and Jenny B. Martin Oakley. She was a homemaker. She was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Dale. She was a member of Spruce Church of God.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by three daughters, Kathleen Johnson of Mt. Sterling, Virginia Elkins and Rebecca Beer, both of Stanton; three sons, Robert Watkins, David (Mildred) Watkins, all of Jeffersonville, and Arthur (Jane) Watkins of Mt. Sterling; 17 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; two sisters, Betty Brooks of Mt. Sterling and Norma Jean McCarty of Hamilton, Ohio; two brothers, Jackie Oakley of Winchester, and Phillip Wayne Oakley of Tennessee; and her very special friends, Frank and Shelia Apicella.
Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2008 at Spruce Church of God with burial at Spruce Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Josh and Ray Watkins, Derrick Beer, Martin Ross, Adam Cornealis and Manuel Johnson. Honorary pallbearers were Douglas Miller, Joseph A. Watkins, Jackson Ross and Gerald Martin.

Edward Frazier, 77
Edward C. Frazier, 77, of Huber Heights, Ohio, died Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2008 at Miami Valley Hospital. He was a retired owner of Frazier’s Black Top and was retired from Delco Products, a Division of General Motors. He was a city transit driver for 12 years, member of Solar Lodge #730 F&AM and Scottish Rite Valley of Dayton. He was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce and son, Jackie Clay Frazier. 
Survivors include his daughter, Vickie Gray and husband, Linville of Lebanon, Ohio; two sons, Larry Frazier and wife Lynn of Kettering, Ohio, and Garry Frazier and wife Lori of Laura, Ohio; one sister, Katherine Frazier of Clay City; seven grandchildren, Terri, Tonya, Tricia, Heather, Michele, Karen and David; and four great-grandchildren,  Alyssa, Austin, Logan and Kase.
 Funeral services were conducted Saturday, Feb. 9, at 2 p.m. at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home Chapel with burial at the Wireman Cemetery. 
Pallbearers were  Gerald Howell, Matt Keating, Darron Frazier, Kevin Neal, Mike Johnson and Michael Eltonhead. Honorary pallbearer was David Frazier.

Earl Harrington, 78
Earl Harrington, 78, of Stanton, died Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2008 at Clark Regional Medical Center, Winchester.
He is survived by his long time friends, David L. and Loran Baker of Stanton.
Graveside services were officiated by Rev. Anthony Molihan at 3 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 14, 2008 at Vaughns Mill Cemetery, Clay City.
The staff of Stanton Nursing Center served as honorary pallbearers
Arrangements were by Hearne Funeral Home Inc., Stanton.

Richard Boone, 69
Richard Gary Boone, 69, of Hwy. 1050, Jeffersonville, died Feb. 13, 2008 at the VA. Medical Center. He was born Aug. 31, 1928 in Clark County, a son of James Thomas Sr. and Carrie Hawkins Boone. He was the owner and operator of Boone Construction Co. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Arthur “Peach” Boone and William Bill Boone.
Survivors include a son, Richard A. “Tony” (Robin) Boone of Stanton; one daughter, Kayla Boone of Jeffersonville; two grandchildren, Rebekah and Rachel Boone, both of Stanton; one brother, James Thomas Boone Jr. of Winchester; and one sister, Brenda Eames of Lexington.
Private funeral services were held at Herald & Stewart Home for Funerals with burial at the Winchester Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Donnie and Darrell Boone, Monty Berryman, Rob Little, Colin McCoy and Bob Johnson.

Wendall Roberts, 69
Wendall Herman Roberts, 69, 520 Breckinridge St., Stanton, died Monday at his home. He was born March 11, 1938 in Powell County to the late Matt and Myrtle Marcum Roberts.
Survivors include a son, Jeff Roberts of Stanton; one daughter, Angela Marie Roberets of Stanton; grandsons, Wendall Dwayne, Kevin Dale and Michael Paul Roberts; great-granddaughter, Britt Lee Roberts.
Private services were held Thursday at Wells Funeral Home, Stanton by Bro. Larry Shoemaker with burial at Roberts Cemetery, Stanton.

Ida McKenzie, 83
Ida Mae McKenzie, 83, of 4836 Hardwick Creek Road, died Friday at St. Joseph Hospital. She was born April 11, 1924 in Powell County to the late George W. and Sarah Alice Townsend. She is preceded in death by her husband, Tandy C. Shearer and Coleman McKenzie; a son, Ramah C. Shearer; sisters, Francis Houghton and Elizabeth Hamilton.
She is survived by her daughters, Ferdella Marie (Eugene) Courtney of Lexington, Catherine Ann (Carl) Montgomery of Nicholasville, and Agnes “Angie” (Thomas) Napier of Lexington; sister-in-law, Estella Shearer of Kalamazoo, Mich.; a son, Benjamin Phillip (Karen) Shearer of Clay City; brothers, Andrew and Charlie Townsend of Stanton; sisters, Mandy Lou Hensley of Kalamazoo, Mich., Ethel Sheppard of Portage, Mich., Joyce Rugg of Vicksburg, Mich., Barbara Giles of Stamping Ground, and Sandy Shuler of Clay City; 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Monday, Feb. 11 at 10 a.m. at Clay City First Church of God by Rev. Garland Lacy, Rev. Jay Harmon and Rev. Larry Buford with burial at Elkins Cemetery, Clay City.
Pallbearers were Benjamin Shearer, U.S. Navy, William Tandy Shearer, Kentucky National Guard, Les Courtney, Carlton Courtney, Jim Earl, Thomas Napier, Ryan Travis Montgomery, Scott Napier, U.S. Marine, Iraq, Colin Montgomery U.S. Army, Iraq, and Josh Courtney. Honorary pallbearers were Sue Perry, Virginia Harmon, Pam Puckett, Georgetta Wireman, Mary Lou Potts and many other special friends.
Arrangements were by Wells Funeral Home, Clay City.

Cora Bryant, 76
Cora King Bryant, 76, of 14 Miller Drive, Stanton, died Tuesday at her home. She was born Dec. 24, 1931 in Powell County to the late Shirley and Nora Hollon King. She was a retired health care and electrical assembly worker. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Johnny King.
She is survived by two sons, Lonnie Hatton of Lexington and Phillip Hatton of Stanton; a daughter, Sheila Anderson of Stanton; brothers, Jesse King and Barney King, both of Stanton, Shirley King Jr. of Clay City, and Millard King of Middletown, Ohio; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 15 at Wells Funeral Home, Stanton by Bro. Eugene Reed with burial at Stanton Cemetery, Stanton.
Pallbearers were Roger Townsend, Phillip Hatton Jr., Jarod Smith, Tim Hatton, Scott Hatton, Jeff Newcome, Britt Newcome, and Steve Froman. Honorary pallbearers were Gail Means, Harold Hurst and Myron Kinser.

Everett Campbell, 83
Everett Lee Campbell, 83, husband of Juanita Law Campbell, died Monday at his home. He was born June 25, 1924 in Perry County to the late Leigh and Martha Crouch Campbell. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and a retiree of Chrysler Corporation.
Survivors include his wife, Juanita Campbell of Clay City; son, Lawrence G. Couch of Phoenix, Ariz.; daughters, Evelyn Johnson of Winchester and Beverly Simmons of Jamestown, Ohio; five grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2008 at Wells Clay City Chapel by Rev. Ted Barker with burial at Childers Family Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Cordie Buckland, Donnie Stapleton, Lawrence Buckland, Charlie Buckland and Frank Stokley. Honorary pallbearers were Elmer Ray Napier, Frank Taulbee, Henry Burel, Hospice staff and Dr. A.J. Ott.

Mazie Carter, 89
Mazie Skidmore Pitts Carter, 89, Edgewood Estate, Frenchburg, died Feb. 18, 2008 at her home. She was born June 18, 1918 in Powell County, a daughter of Green Skidmore and Bertha Clay Sheffield Skidmore. She was a homemaker and a former waitress, and a member of the Church of God. She had been married to Steve Pitts and then Bernie Carter. She was preceded in death by one grandson; four sisters; and two brothers.
She is survived by one son, Kenneth (Carol) Pitts of Means; three daughters, Margie Holcomb of Perry, Ga., Anita (David) Bolt of Anderson, S.C., and Betty (M.L.) Langston of Cedartown, Ga.; three brothers, Shelby (Imogene) Skidmore of Frenchburg, Jimmy (Marianna) Skidmore and Sherman Skidmore, all of Stanton; nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and friends.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 21, 2008 at Herald & Stewart Home for Funerals’ Chapel by Rev. Steve Donithan with burial at Machpelah Cemetery.
