Baseball Sign-ups
Powell County Little League baseball sign-ups will be held Feb. 9 and 16 from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. at the Senior Citizens Center by Stanton Park. Please bring a copy of child’s birth certificate. Cost is $40 for first child, $20 for second child and $10 for each additional child.

Football Boosters
Powell County Football Boosters will have a special election on Monday, Feb. 11 at 6:30 p.m. at Airport Market.

Free Workshop
A class for those who want to learn more about eating and cooking for heart health, whether it be for the prevention or treatment of heart disease. Food samples and recipes will be provided Tuesday, Feb. 12 at 6:30 p.m. at Powell County Extension Office.

Blood Drive
Clay City Community Blood Drive will be Monday, Feb. 11 from 1-6 p.m. on the KBC Bloodmobile at Rednour Properties, 4418 Main Street, Clay City. Donors are encouraged to schedule an appointment by calling 1-800-775-2522.

Veterans Benefits
A Veterans Benefits Field Representative with the Kentucky Department of Veterans Affairs will be at the Powell County Courthouse, Stanton on the first Thursday of each month from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Veterans and their families will be given counseling in filing for Federal and State Veterans benefits. This service is provided free of any charge or fee by the Commonwealth of Kentucky, Department of Veterans Affairs. Feel free to call and leave a message if we are out at 1-866-376-0308, your call will be returned. Bring all documents pertaining to filing a claim.

Biggest Loser
Women, Men or youth interested in losing weight through physical activities can join the Powell County Biggest Losers Program that meets at the Powell County Public Library Feb. 7 - April 24 every Thursday night from 5:30 to 7 p.m. The cost is $30 per person plus $1 for every pound you lose. GED in Campton
Hazard Communiy and Technical College will offer GED testing in Campton at the Wolfe County Adult Education Center on Feb. 21 and 22. Registration for the GED test will begin at 9 a.m. with testing immediately following. First time students will need to attend both testing days. On the first day of testing, students will complete the demographics form, the mathematics test, and the language arts writing test. On the second day of testing, students will complete the science, social studies, and language arts reading tests. Photo identification is required for each student on each testing day and a signed GED application is required for all first time testers. Spay/Neuter Clinic
Friends of Powell County’s Pets Inc. will host another low-cost spay and neuter clinic Feb. 9 at the Clay City Elementary School. To sign up call Amy at 606-663-1631 and leave a message. Cost for female dogs is $58; male dogs, $48; female cats, $48; male cats, $38. Dogs over 50 pounds, $10 extra. Help end the problem of unwanted and homeless animals and spay or neuter your pets. Donations can be made by calling Amy at 606-663-1631.

Class of 1968
The Powell County High School Class of 1968 will have their 40th year class reunion May 24, 2008. We are in the process of locating and notifying all class members.
