Virginia Begley, 81
Virginia Beatrice “Bea” Begley, widow of R.C. Begley, died Monday, Dec. 3 after a long illness. She was born June 14, 1926. She was a long time member of the Bread of Life Church in Lexington. After raising her six children, she was employed for many years by the Clark Regional Medical Center in Winchester. She retired from Eastern State Hospital in Lexington to take care of her ailing husband. She later worked at the Big Blue Bird Early Childhood Center where she became known by many of her children as “Mama Bea.”
Survivors include her daughters, Arlena (Jerry) Moorefield of Liberty, Ind., Regina (Sammy) Wyatt of Calhoun, Ga., Robin (Jerry) Flannery of Lexington; a son, Charles Begley of Stanton; step-daughters, Delma Becker of Frankfort and Roberta Tapley of Batavia, Ohio; brother, Harley Wells of Clay City; sister, Emma Yarder of Florence; 21 grandchildren; and 29 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Barbara Ann Begley; sons, Roy James Begley and Ralph Wayne Begley; brothers, Buford Wells and Virgil Wells; sisters, Inez Williams, Ruby Baber, Eunice McKinney, Lyda Oliver and Katherine Clark
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Friday at Wells Clay City Chapel by Rev. G. Finch and Rev. D. Allen with burial at Eaton Cemetery, Clay City.
The family requests memorials be made to Hospice.
Verna Hall, 75
Verna Clay Hall, 75, died Nov. 11, 2007 in Raleigh, N.C. She was born Oct. 1, 1932 in Midway.
She is survived by her husband, Kenneth V. Hall; sons, Patrick Hall and Eric Hall; daughters, Mary (Bobby) Hamilton and Debbie Hall; brothers, Jimmy, Austin and Cecil McCall; sisters, Zelphia Hollon, Zannie Smith, Eunice Mays and Ruby Major; one grandson, Mark Hamilton.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 15, 2007 at Wells Funeral Home by Rev. Warren Rogers with burial at Clay City Eaton Cemetery, Cay City.
David Crim, 61
David Gayle Crim, 61, of Winchester, husband of Brenda Kendrick Crim, died Sunday, Dec. 2, 2007 at his residence. He was born in Winchester on Sept. 23, 1946, a son of the late David T. and Mary Leeseburg Shouse Crim. He was a former employee of the Clark County School System, and attended the Christ Church of Truth in Winchester. He was one of the original founding members of the Homer Ledford and the Cabin Creek Band.
Along with his wife of over 41 years, he is survived by one son, Jeffrey Scott (Jennifer) Crim of Platt City, MO.; one daughter, Jennifer Gayle (David) Fraley of Stanton; one granddaughter, Kaitlin Nichole Fraley; and a host of friends and relatives.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2007 at the Booneville Funeral Home by Pastor David Knapp with burial at Pleasant Grove Cemetery, Booneville.
