Jerry Collier, 67
Jerry O’Neal Collier, 67, husband of Janice Collier, Pensacola, Fla. died April 9, 2008. Born in Tyronza, Ark., he was a son of the late Vernest and Bonnie Lindsey Collier. He was an Army Veteran and a retired warehouse foreman.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Christopher Collier and Tim Collier; one daughter, Sandy Collier all of Florida; a brother, John Collier, of Stanton; three sisters: Pat Dotson of Illinois, Judy Rop of Michigan and Lori Dotson of Clay City; and four grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at noon Saturday, April 12, 2008 by Bro. David Bowden at Hearne Funeral Home Chapel, Stanton, with burial at Rest Haven Cemetery, Stanton.
Pallbearers were John Collier, Quincy Collier, Mike Krabby, Thurman Dotson, Jr., Rodger Rap and Thurman Dotson, Sr.
Paul Bradley, 84
Paul Curtis Bradley, 84, widower of Mildred Davis Bradley, 740 Brush Ck. Rd., Clay City, died Sunday, April 6, 2008 at Clark Regional Medical Center. Born Sept. 21, 1923 in Winchester, he was a the son of the late Walter Lee and Fannie Curtis Bradley. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army and a retired employee of Oliver Trucking Co. In addition to his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by his son, Harry Basham; two brothers, Oscar and Bill Bradley and two sisters, Anna Jones and Helen Crowe.
He is survived by his daughter, Bettye (Fairley) French and his daughter-in-law, Nancy Basham, both of Clay City; five grandchildren, Stephanie (Barry) Cornett, and Jennifer (Donnie) Baker, both of Clay City, Ryan Bradley (Stacey) French, Richmond Hill, Ga., Gregory (Lisa) Basham, Independence, and Anthony Basham (Craig), Lexington; eight great-grandchildren, Bradley and Molly Cornett, Cameron, Braedon and Maddison French, Allison and Matthew Basham and Logan Baker; two step great-grandchildren, Morgan and Sara Ebner, Godson, Travis Haggard and special caregiver, Robin Smith.
Funeral services were conducted at 10 a.m. Thursday, April 10, 2008 at Hearne Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Greg Webb and Ryan French officiating. Burial with military honors was at the Winchester Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Othel Crowe, Jr., Melvin Crowe, Bobby Crowe, Ronnie Everman, Steve Everman and Ronnie Knox.

Elmer Napier, 63
Elmer Ray Napier, 63, 10539 Winchester Road, Clay City, husband of Angie Riffe Napier, died Sunday at his home. He was born Oct. 15, 1944 in Clay City to the late Arthur and manda Spicer Napier. He was a Vietnam veteran and a retired welder.
Survivors include his wife, Angie Napier of Clay City; two sons, David and wife Clara Napier of Winchester, and Arthur and wife Tina Napier of Clay City; a daughter, Serena and husband Dale McKinney of Winchester; grandchildren, Michael Napier, Sarah Napier, Nikki Napier, and Jacob McKinney; one brother; and four sisters.
Funeral services were held Thursday, April 17 at 11 a.m. at Wells Clay City Chapel by Bro. Ray Coates with burial at Napier Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Elmer Stamper, David Napier, Arthur Napier, Michael Napier, Dale McKinney and Christopher Harris. Honorary pallbearers were Jacob McKinney, Johnny Ray, Harmen Barker, Frank Taulbee and Ike McKinney.
Willie Strange, 65
Willie Strange, 65, of 180 First Ave., Clay City, died Sunday at Pattie A. Clay Hospital, Richmond. He was born Feb. 7, 1943 in Powell County to the late Henry and Mable Abner Strange. He was a retired construction worker. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Mary Elizabeth Lane.
Survivors include six sons, Ronnie and wife Sharon Strange of Lexington, Kenny and wife Carla Strange, Mike and wife Cheryl Strange, both of Winchester, Terry and wife Gail Strange, Terry Strange and Tony Strange, all of Clay City; a daughter, Shelia Combs of Clay City; brothers, John and wife Winnie Strange of Clay City, Marvin and wife Mary Strange of Richmond, and Paul and wife Sherri Strange of Somerset; sisters, Fannie and husband Richard Meadows of Somerset, Ann and husband Stanley Slemp of Mt. Sterling, Phyllis Holder of Somerset, Henritta and husband Maynard Watkins of Winchester, and Sylvia and husband Johnny Crouch of Waco; 13 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, April 16 at Wells Clay City Chapel with burial at West Bend Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Johnny Crouch, Greg Strange, Marvin Strange Jr., Eric Slemp, Christopher Johnson and Patrick J. Dimmitt. Honorary pallbearers were Aaron Strange, Matthew Strange, Allen Ray Strange, Jermey Puckett and Dustin Dimmitt.
Garrett Bowen, 79
Garrett Bowen, 79, of 401 Eagle Trace, Clay City, widower of Laverne Muncie Bowen, died Saturday, April 12 at his home. He was born Sept. 1, 1928 in Lee County to the late Russell and Jane Hobbs Bowen. He was a lifetime resident of Powell County, a World War II Army veteran, a retired Rediness Material Manager, and an active member of the Southland Christian Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and brother Russell Bowen Jr.
Survivors include David Bowen and Kevin Bowen, both of Clay City, Phillip Bowen of Winchester; a daughter, Jane Ann Friel of Stanton; sisters, Lois Rogers and Annette Billings, both of Stanton; grandchildren, Craig and Chase Friel.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 15 at Wells Funeral Home, Stanton by Rev. Richard J. Amerine with burial at Moreland Cemetery, Bowen.
Rose Baker, 83
Rose Alene Ashley Baker, 83, widow of Elijah Baker, died April 1, 2008 in Mesa, Ariz. She was born June 19, 1924 in Lombard to the late Isaac and Martha Spencer Ashley. She was a homemaker.
Survivors include two daughters, Valerie Smallwood and Gail Williams; grandchildren, Elijah Smallwood, Liza Meyers, Kris Corbin, Ron Williams, Greg Williams and Randy Williams; great-grandchildren, Elizabeth Williams, Abigail Williams, Victoria Williams, Nathan Williams, Jeffery Clark, Josh Williams, Chadis Williams, Chelsea Williams, Kirsten Williams, and Jacob Williams; great-great-grandchildren, Loga and Ivy Lynn Clark
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Wells Funeral Home, Stanton by Rev. Tommy Caudill with burial at Spencer Cemetery.

Gracie Rose, infant
Gracie Brooklyn Rae Rose, eight day old daughter of Priscilla Rose and Josh Taulbee, died March 29, 2008 at University of Kentucky Hospital, Lexington. She was born March 21, 2008. She is preceded in death by her two great-grandfathers, Jessie Townsend and Kurt Rose; and one great-uncle, Ray Brewer.
Survivors include her mother, Priscilla Rose, father, Josh Taulbee; brother, Ethan Rose; grandparents, Wayne and Lois Rose, Dennis Taulbee Jr. and Brenda Hartsfield; aunts and uncles, April and Johnny Willoughby, Ashley Rose, Derek Rose, Chris Rose, Stacie Rose and Bill Taulbee; cousins, Courtney, Haleigh, Keeley Willoughby, and Cameron and Justin Rose; great-grandmothers, Mary Townsend and Irene Rose.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 2, 2008 at Wells Funeral Home, Stanton by Rev. Mac Rice and Dennis Talbee Jr. with burial at Rose Cemetery.
Jimmie Spencer, 67
Jimmie Jean Spencer, 67, 240 Smith Hollow Road, wife of Jesse Spencer Jr., died Monday at her home. She was born July 1, 1940 in Perry County to the late Hamp and Eliza Campbell Collins. She was a retired factory worker.
Survivors include her husband, Jesse Spencer of Clay City; a son, Larry Spencer of Clay City; three daughters, Retta Spencer, Louise Brewer and Julie Spencer, all of Clay City; six brothers, Nathaniel Collins, Hamp Campbell, Ray Collins, Jim Collins, Bobby Collins and Charles Collins; seven grandchildren, Christopher Spencer, Kimberly Welch, Jesssica Spencer, Jesse Spencer, Carrie Jean Brewer, Joshua Shane Brewer and Krystina Spencer; and three great-grandchildren, Danica Spencer, Logan Brewer and Ricky Spencer.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Ricky Spencer; two sisters, Susie Collins and Dorothy Faye Spencer; and three brothers, Richard Collins, David Collins and Barney Collins.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, April 18, 2008 at Wells Clay City Chapel by Rev. Lonnie Speaks, Brian Hampton, Nathanial Collins and Bobby Collins. Burial will be at Dun-Raven Cemetery, Hazard.
