Cheerleading Tryouts
The first practice for the 2008-09 ECHS Varsity Cheerleading team tryouts will be Monday, June 9 at Estill Spring 5th grade center. Practice will be 3-6 p.m. with a mandatory parent/guardian meeting at 6 p.m. in the gym.
Vollleyball Camp
The 2008 Estill County Lady Engineers Volleyball Camp will be held Monday June 16 through Thursday, June 19 at the Estill County High School Gym. Registration will start at 4:30 p.m. on June 16. Monday, Tuesday and Thursday 5p.m.-7p.m. and Wednesday 4:30 - 6p.m.
Historical Society
The Estill County Historical and Genealogical Society will hold the annual June meeting at the home of Gene and Eva Watson at McIntosh Hollow on Tuesday, June 3, at 6 p.m. Everyone is to bring a covered dish. Don't forget to bring an item for the auction with proceeds going into the general fund for Museum and Research Center improvements.
1948 Class Reunion
The Estill County High School senior class of 1948 will have a class reunion Saturday, June 7 at Cedar Village restaurant from 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.. The noon meal will be buffet at $10 a person tax and tip included. Family members are also welcome to attend.
Community Chorus
The Estill County Community Chorus will present a Bicentennial Concert Friday, June 27 at 7 p.m. at First Christian Church. The chorus is now practicing on Thursdays at 7 p.m. at Irvine United Methodist Church.
Domestic Violence Meetings
Domestic violence meetings with Cindy Webb will be held on Tuesdays for eight weeks at 1 p.m. at Cabinet for Families and Children on Mack Street (located within the social services office conference room). Meeting will offer individual support, stop the cycle of violence, self esteem/image, what to expect from court, safety planning and much more. Intermediate Scrapbooking Class
Do you like scrapbooking but want to take your skills and creativity to the next level? Estill County Community Education presents Intermediate Scrapbooking, a two-evening seminar in which you will learn how to raise your scrapbooking techniques to the next level and maximize the use of your supplies. Classes will be held Monday and Tuesday, June 8 and 9, 6-8 p.m. Just bring your pictures, what supplies you have, and a lot of imagination! Bead Bracelet Workshop

Freedom Rider Band
On Friday, June 6 from 7:30-9:30 p.m. will perform rock-n-roll at the Berea Welcome Center, in Old Town, North Broadway. The event is free and open to the public.
Basketball Camp
2008 Estill County Lady Engineers Basketball Camp will be June 9 - 12 from 8 a.m. to noon at the Estill County High School Gym. Registration will start at 7:30 a.m. on June 9.
Power Wheelchairs
The Three Wishes Program makes available to senior citizens and the permanently disabled power (electric) wheelchairs at not cost to the recipient, if they qualify. Call 1-800-277-2129 to see if you qualify.

Relay for Life Quilt
The Community Relay for Life Quilt is now finished with the help of eight ladies who contributed time and fabrics for the quilt. The quilt is done all in shades of pink, is reversible, and features 48 different squares. It measures 84 x 108. Tickets may be obtained through your Relay for Life Chapter, by contacting Rhonda Rader, or Becky Wolfinbarger at the Health Department, or calling Nelle Williams. A correction on the chances: One ticket is $2 or three tickets for $5. All proceeds go to Relay for Life, and some lucky winner will have a beautiful quilt
L&N Day
The 9th Annual L&N Day in Berea will be Saturday, June 7 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the historic 1917 L&N Depot in Old Town Berea. The event is free and open to the public. For more information call 1-800-598-5263.
Relay for Life Raffle
Hand crafted Raggedy Ann and Andy dolls by Ieda Baker and a basket full of all sorts of goodies will be raffled on June 14 at Relay for Life Walk at approximately 1 a.m. You do not have to be present to win, you will be called. Each ticket will be $2. All proceeds will go to American Cancer Society. Split Pot Tickets
The Estill County Senior Citizens Center still has split pot tickets for sale. They are available at the Estill County Judge's office. The tickets only cost $1 each for a chance to win $1,000. See any of the staff at the center or Teresa Sparks at the judge's office to buy a ticket.
Historical Society
The Estill County Historical and Genealogical Society is having a special pre-publication price for the Pictorial History of Estill County of $49.95 plus $7 shipping. Only those ordering their copy/copies before June 10, 2008 will be assured of getting a copy of the hardback, bound in rich leatherette cover, and embossed with gold foil seal book. It is scheduled for delivery in late fall 2008. Memorial pages, special events, or business pages may still be purchased and can be designed by family members, business or organization for $200. (With the purchase of each page there will be a free book.) Attention all Estill High graduates and former students, a huge reunion is being planned for June 21 from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The gym at the central office building (old Estill High) has been reserved for this occasion. Relay for Life
The Estill County Relay for Life 2008 will have a Team Captain meeting on the second Tuesday of the Month through June in the community room at Citizens Guaranty Bank at 6:30. This year's Relay theme will be Old Country/County Fair to go along with Estill County's Bicentennial Celebration. Relay is set for June 13, 2008, and we want to make this year's the best Estill County has seen. Any person interested in participating is encouraged to attend to start a team or represent a group. Homeschool Group
The Homeschool Enrichment Group will meet Wednesday, June 11, at 1:30 PM at the public library in Irvine. Our project will be to continue our science unit by studying rocks. Bring a regular rock and go home with a pet rock. We will also have make and eat refreshments.
